BYOT

BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology)

The Asheville City Schools Board of Education endeavors to ensure that all students have access to personal digital teaching and learning devices to foster the 21st century skills necessary for future-ready learners. To further that goal, and to allow students to learn with the devices with which they are most familiar, Asheville City Schools is embracing a "Bring Your Own Technology" policy.

The Bring Your Own Technology policy is designed to gain instructional benefit from personally owned digital teaching and learning devices on campus. Each school in the system will have the opportunity to opt in to allow students to bring and use the personal electronic devices that fit the school's educational program. In schools that elect to allow BYOT, each teacher will determine if and when it is appropriate for student owned devices to be used.

Install Z-Scaler Root Certificate

For the web filter to work properly, download and install the Z-Scaler root security certificate. You will not be able to get to many websites if you do not install the Z-Scaler certificate. This certificate is installed so that your Internet traffic can be securely transmitted. No data is collected from your computer, and no software or off-site monitoring capabilities are ever installed on personally-owned devices.

Before you install the certificate, you will need to download it to your computer. Please refer to the installation instructions below for your device.
